ANEF – L’Associazione Nazionale Esercenti Funiviari

ANEF – L’Associazione Nazionale Esercenti Funiviari – The National Association of Cableway Operators has its origins in the early 1950s, from the establishment, in the sense of FENIT (entrepreneurial association with a strong vocation in the field of fixed installation transport), of an Autonomous Section responsible for representing all the components active in the cableway transport sector (operators, builders, professional technicians) as well as addressing, managing and resolving technical, construction, regulatory and trade union issues of interest to companies.
Subsequently, due to the strong expansion of the cableway activity, induced by the growing propensity of tourists to practice winter sports, the need arose to specialize the representation through the establishment of a trade association that had the tasks, prerogatives and the typical functions of direct employer organizations.
In fact, the awareness of the companies operating cable transport that they constitute a unitary agglomeration, albeit complex and articulated, and the desire to directly manage institutional relations as well as to assume political interlocution on economic-social matters themselves, have determined the development of a strong associative spirit, which took shape in the stipulation, with the transport OOSSLL, of the first national collective labor agreement for cableway employees (1978).
In March 1987, a new association called ANEF (national association of cableway operators) was officially established in Alta Badia.
Currently, over 90% of Italian cableway companies, distributed both in the Alpine and Apennine territories, belong to ANEF. Representativeness is ensured by the direct membership, or through territorial sections, of around 300 companies for a total of over 2000 plants. As regards the number of employees, given that we are in the presence of a sector characterized by its nature by seasonal discontinuity (the period of maximum activity is normally around four months/year), we can estimate a workforce in the order of 14,000/15,000 units in the period of full activity.
ANEF adheres, as the only recognized trade association for the cableway sector, to the Confindustria System, both directly and through Federturismo, of which it is an effective member. Furthermore, on an international level, it collaborates constantly with FIANET (Fédération Internationale des Associations Nationales d’exploitation de telepheriques) and OITAF (International Organization for Ropeway Transport).
