The Association of German Cable Cars and Ski Lifts (VDS) represents 124 companies across the cable car industry, including alpine mountain railways, urban cable cars, funiculars, and lifts in indoor ski facilities. It advocates for the industry’s interests in politics, regulatory approvals, and certification, and serves as a key point of contact for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and the public.

Through training and continuing education, the VDS develops skilled professionals for the sector. It also provides advisory and training services in technology and safety, business management and law, as well as environmental protection and tourism.

The association is supported by the VDS “Förderkreis”, a strong partner network of suppliers and service providers.
